Four-star offensive lineman Carde Smith has de-committed from Auburn. It is a blow for the SEC program as they lost an in-state recruit but it perhaps isn’t surprising.
Over the weekend, Smith took an official visit to USC. The freshly minted Big Ten program now appears to be in the driver’s seat in Smith’s recruitment.
He had taken an official visit to Auburn the weekend of June 14.
Smith is a consensus four-star recruit. In the On3 Industry Rankings, Smith is the No. 231 overall recruit in the nation as well as the No. 21 offensive tackle.
In addition to Auburn and USC, Smith holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Missouri, Ole Miss and South Carolina among others.
News of Smith’s de-commitment was broken by Hayes Fawcett of On3.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine has USC at 59.4 percent to land Smith.
A 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle at Williamson (Mobile, Alabama), Smith has a good frame to pack on size and strength for the Power Five level. He also has good arm length and vertical movement.
