Cara Delevingne has said that her “heart is broken” after her $7 million Los Angeles home caught fire.
Firefighters rushed to the scene early Friday morning to combat the blaze, which is suspected to have originated in the back room of her Studio City, California, property.
On her Instagram story, the 31-year-old model and actress thanked firefighters for helping to save her cats.
She wrote: “My heart is broken today. I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye. So cherish what you have.”
She added: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the firefighters and people that have showed up to help.”
It was not immediately clear whether her cats had survived the fire, but Delevingne later posted a picture of the pets, writing: “They are alive!! Thank you to the firefighters.”
Delevingne is currently residing in the UK as she makes her West End Debut so wasn’t present when the fire broke out at the 8,000-square-foot home.
A firefighter was transported to a hospital in fair condition due to unspecified injuries, while an individual from the house experienced minor smoke inhalation, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said.
Firefighters responded to the two-story residence to discover extensive flames at the rear of the house, causing damage to a room and spreading to the attic, according to Prange.
After ensuring the evacuation of all occupants, firefighters adopted a defensive stance, leading to the collapse of the roof. He said it took over two hours for the fire departure to extinguish the fire.
Delevingne bought the property in 2019, according to the LA Times, and splits her time between California and London.
Delevingne gave Architectural Digest a tour of her Los Angeles home in 2021, which she called her “adult playhouse”.
Her house includes a ball pit, projector screen, trampolines and a pool.
The model had previously owned another Hollywood residence with her sister Poppy Delevingne, which they bought from actor Jared Leto. The pair then sold the property to singer Usher for $3.4million in September 2022.
The British star recently opened up about why she decided to move away from London in the first place, telling ES Magazine it was in part because “the press and journalism can be really rough [here]...
“You’re either a person that people want to succeed or you’re not.
“And I think once you are one of the latter, you can’t really get out of that. So I was like, ‘The only thing I want to do is leave.’”
However, she said that being back in London now is different for her, claiming she’s “more boring”.
“People don’t follow me around all the time and I don’t have much [going on] they can write about,” she shared.
The model-turned-actress is currently in London, making her West End debut portraying Sally Bowles in Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre alongside Olivier award-winning actor Luke Treadaway.
The Standard has contacted Cara Delevingne’s reps as well as the LA Fire Department for comment.
