A car has driven onto the train track after making a wrong turn at a level crossing, causing havoc on the Metro network.
The vehicle is currently stuck on the railway line near Bank Foot station in Kenton Bank, Newcastle, with no Metro services able to run between Airport and South Gosforth.
Bemused onlookers have gathered at the scene as police monitor the incident, though Metro operator Nexus have confirmed there have been no injuries.

“Metro services are suspended between Airport and South Gosforth due to a car being driven on to the line at Bank Foot Level crossing,” a Nexus spokesman said.
“The car was not involved in a collision with any trains. Police are at the scene dealing with the incident alongside our own staff.
“It appears the driver has mistakenly turned on to the Metro line in error. Nobody has been injured.”
A recovery vehicle is on its way to remove the small car from the tracks, which has been on the line since around 5pm, but services will continue to be suspended while engineers assess the tracks for any damage.
