Car flips in pile-up crash, hospitalising two at New Lambton

A man and woman were expected to be hospitalised at the weekend after a three-car pile-up at New Lambton.

Paramedics and emergency services were called to the Bridges Road intersection at St James and Queens roads about 10.15am on Saturday.

They found three cars had collided, causing one to roll onto its roof.

A man and woman, believed to be aged in their 50s and 60s respectively, were assessed by paramedics for head injuries. They were expected to be taken to John Hunter Hospital.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said their injuries were initially assessed as minor and their condition was understood to be stable.

Two other people were seen by paramedics, but are understood to have declined hospital treatment.

Police and emergency services were still at the scene about 11am, where traffic had queued along Bridges Road.

Drivers were told to expect delays and to travel carefully in the area.

An NSW Police spokeswoman said officers at the scene were assisting with traffic control as emergency services worked.
