A car was left in engulfed in flames after it was targeted by thugs in a South Lanarkshire town firebomb attack.
Emergency crews raced to reports of the vehicle blaze on Pailis Crescent, Bothwell, which took place just before midnight on Friday June 3.
Pictures from the scene show a fireball engulfing the car, with thick smoke billowing out above.
F ire crews battled the blaze and tried to stop it spreading onto nearby homes, eventually being able to extinguish it just after 1am.
After over an hour the fire was put out and the fire crew left the scene just after 1am.
The burnt out motor remained outside the property this morning.
Police Scotland have since launched a probe into the fire, which they are treating as deliberate. The exact cause of the blaze is unknown at this time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a car on fire on Pailis Crescent, Bothwell, around 11.55pm on Friday, 3 June, 2022.
“The fire is currently being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed they were in attendance.
The added: "One appliance was sent out and the fire was extinguished shortly after and fire officers left the scene just after 1am this morning.
"The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this stage."
