A Queensland man accused of murdering a 55-year-old man by deliberately driving into him on Christmas Day has faced court.

Callum Anthony Padaric Cook, 30, of Millmerran, appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

He's been charged with one count of murder, with police alleging he ran down the older man at a property in Commens Street, Millmerran at around 9.30 on Sunday night.

The man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.

Police officers apprehended the 30 year old at a nearby park a short time later on Sunday and took him into custody.

He was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing drug utensils, possessing explosives without authority and driving a motor vehicle without a licence.

Cook was remanded in custody to reappear on February 28.

Detectives have appealed for anyone who has dash cam footage or may have witnessed the moments leading up to the incident to contact police.
