Captain Sandy Yawn has taken to Cameo, the celebrity engagement platform, to give an exclusive sneak peek behind the porthole ahead of Below Deck Mediterranean season 7 hitting our screens on July 11, 2022. Sandy spills the beans on what fans can expect from the new season, her new department heads, the best thing about her job and her thoughts on women in the maritime industry.
Sandy says she did nothing but laugh whilst filming this time around. However, TV’s most popular Captain goes on to reveal that she is sceptical about working with new department heads as she says it’s “always a mystery” and has a Pacific taste. Sandy also questions if they are capable of doing their job and doesn’t know if they “have lied on their CV?” or if they are ship shape for the job.
The most important factors Captain Sandy Yawn is looking for in her new department heads are whether they “will be full of awesome-sauce” and able to “deliver 5-star service” or cause an oar-deal. Sandy also opens up about the best parts of her job, which is “driving big boats, travelling the world and mentoring crew.” Captain Sandy is renowned for sea’sing the day and loves to be a part of a team.
Captain Sandy ends the clip by encouraging women to get involved in the maritime industry and emphasises the importance of getting the “message out.” “There’s a lot of jobs other than just working on boats. Building boats, carpenters, plumbers and engineers.”
She also wants her love of her industry to be shared amongst many as she tells “women to join the maritime industry” with the hope to inspire as many women as possible to build a future similar to hers.
