Cape Verde fans gathered for a public screening in the capital, Praia, to cheer on their team despite a dramatic 3-2 extra-time defeat to Argentina in the World Cup.

Supporters said simply reaching the tournament and pushing the defending champions to the limit was a remarkable achievement for the island nation.

Cape Verde twice came from behind before an own goal in extra time ended their historic debut campaign.

Fans said they remained proud of the Blue Sharks and their unexpected run to the knockout stage.
