Canyon has launched a brand new electric gravel bike, the Grizl:ON. This is Canyon's second e-gravel bike and Canyon says it has been designed with maximum versatility in mind, combining "everyday practicality and boundary-pushing exploration".
The Grizl:ON is based on Canyon's Grizl, a wide-tired adventure gravel bike, and will sit alongside Canyon's existing Grail:ON electric gravel bike which was launched back in 2020.
The Grizl:ON comes in three distinct builds, but all feature a carbon frame, fitted with a RockShox Rudy gravel fork, and powered by a Bosch Performance Line SX mid-drive motor. Canyon says the lightweight Bosch e-bike motor "promotes active riding for more of human-powered engaging experience than the full-power e-bike experience", delivering 55Nm of torque and powered by a 400Wh battery. This can be increased using the 250Wh Range Extender optional extra if you are planning on going further afield.
Canyon has also integrated several neat features into the Grizl:ON. A Lupine Nano SL headlight illuminates the trail ahead while the Canyon x Lupine SightStays system integrates rear lights into each seat stay, both front and rear lights are powered by the battery of the bike. Canyon has specced its S14 VCLS 2.0 comfort seatpost for added comfort and there are accessories such as a stem bolt mounted GPS mount, mudguards with a built-in rack, Ortlieb Gravel Pack pannier, and Fidlock magnetic framebag available.
The Grizl:ON comes in four spec levels with builds to suit a variety of uses.
Canyon Grizl:ON CF Trail
This is the adventurous flagship build, which comes equipped with a wide-range mullet drivetrain that combines SRAM Force AXS levers with an XO Eagle mullet transmission (42T / 10-52T). You get a RockShox Rudy Ultimate XPLR suspension fork and instead of the S14 VCLS 2.0 the bike is fitted with a RockShox Reverb AXS XPLR 75 mm dropper post to drop the seat out of the way on technical trails. DT Swiss HGC14000 wheels and wide Schwalbe G-One Ultrabite 50 mm tires complete the build. This bike tips the scales at 15.5kg and will cost £7,649 / €7,999.
Canyon Grizl:ON CF 9
The Grizl:ON CF 9 is the lightest build at 15.3kg in the Grizl:ON range. It features a full SRAM Force AXS XPLR drivetrain (42T, 10-44T) with Rock Shox Rudy Ultimate XPLR suspension. Fitting the S14 VCLS 2.0 seat post instead of a dropper and Schwalbe G-One Bite Evo 45mm saves some weight over the more capable Trail model. The Grizl:ON is priced at £6,999 / €6,999.
Canyon Grizl:ON CF Daily
Canyon's Grizl:ON CF Daily spec bike is aimed more at urban adventures than backcountry ones. It comes specced with Shimano GRX 12sp (42T, 10-45T), DT Swiss HG1800 wheels, and Schwalbe G-One Overland 45mm tires. Canyon equips the Daily with its Defend Femnder Carrier as standard so you can fit panniers. As it comes with the rack it's the heaviest bike in the range at 17.6kg, costing £5,249 / €5,499
Canyon Grizl:ON CF 7
The Grizl:ON CF7 is the cheapest bike in the range at €4,999 / £4,799 and comes with an 11-speed Shimano GRX groupset fitted with a 42T / 10-42T gearing range. You get a RockShox Rudy XPLR fork, DT Swiss HG1800, and 45mm Schwalbe G-One Bite Evo tires. The quoted weight for the CF7 is 15.9kg.
All bikes are available now in the UK and Europe. In the US, at the time of launch, two Grizl:ON models will be available to U.S. customers – the Grizl:ON CF 7 and Grizl:ON CF 9. These will fall under Class 3 e-bike status and able to achieve speeds of 45 kph (28 mph). U.S. bikes will spec the Bosch SX motor plus a larger 44T front chainring as standard, U.S. pricing TBC.
