Cannabis and cigarettes worth over €200,000 was seized at Dublin Airport over the weekend.
Around 9.6 kgs of herbal cannabis was found during routine checks by Revenue officers on Monday morning. The drugs were flown over from the United States and were apparently destined for a Dublin address.
They were found in an air cargo consignment with the assistance of detector dog Blue. Meanwhile, €80,000 worth of cigarettes was uncovered on Sunday by officers.

The ‘Lambert and Butler’ cigarettes were also found in an air cargo consignment, labelled ‘car parts,’ and were transported over from Spain. The illicit cigarettes were similarly identified with the help of a detector dog.
The retail value of the cigarettes is worth €58,000, and could potentially have lost the Exchequer €48,000. Revenue has appealed for members of the public with any information regarding the goods to come forward.
A Revenue spokesperson added: “The seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of drugs and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295.”
