Candidates running in the general election for Virginia's 7th Congressional District focus their campaigns on affordability

Incumbent Rep. Eugene Vindman (D), Douglas Ollivant (R), and Alaha Ahrar (I) are running in the general election for Virginia's 7th Congressional District on Nov. 3, 2026. Vindman and Ollivant lead in noteworthy endorsements, fundraising, and media attention.

Subsidiaries of the Democratic and Republican Parties identified this election as being competitive. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) identified it as a target district. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) named Vindman to its Frontline program, which provides support to Democratic incumbents in competitive districts.

A Democrat has won the preceding two general elections for the district, but none by more than five percentage points. Former Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D) won in 2022 by 4.6 percentage points. In 2024, Spanberger retired to run for governor of Virginia. Vindman defeated Derrick Anderson (R) in the general election by 2.7 percentage points.
