Candidates Chess: Gukesh jumps into joint lead

NAGPUR: Playing with patience and waiting for the opponent to make a mistake gave D Gukesh the desired result as the 17-year-old caught up with Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia in the Candidates Chess lead on Tuesday.

The fifth round of the tournament at the Great Hall in Toronto saw the other two Indian GMs, Praggnanandhaa R and Vidit Gujrathi, squandering opportunities to beat Nepomniachtchi and top seed Fabiano Caruana, respectively.
