'Cancel his loan' - Manchester United fans react to Dean Henderson penalty save

Dean Henderson had Manchester United fans bemoaning their luck yet again on Sunday, less than 24 hours after David de Gea’s nightmare at Brentford.

The England international is on loan at Nottingham Forest this season as he looks to get more playing time under his belt. And he’s not been shy of ruffling a few feathers back at Old Trafford, having criticised his treatment from United last season.

But he hit the headlines for all the right reasons as Forest came up against West Ham in their first home game back in the Premier League. Having seen his side take the lead through Taiwo Awoniyi, Henderson played a huge hand in keeping the hosts in front.

The Hammers were awarded a penalty midway through the second half when Tomas Soucek saw his goal-bound shot handled by Scott McKenna. Henderson though came up with the save to deny Declan Rice from the spot, and no doubt send a message to his parent club.

His heroics came just a day after De Gea’s horror show at Brentford, with the Spaniard at fault for the hosts’ first two goals in the 4-0 defeat. And Henderson’s performance didn’t go unnoticed by United fans.

Henderson’s penalty save proved vital for Forest, who went on to hold their narrow advantage and claim their first win back in the top flight. The goalkeeper’s performance will no doubt put more pressure on De Gea and United amid their poor start to the season.
