Canal Bank Cafe review: Leeson Street restaurant contends for best chicken wings in Dublin

Canal Bank Cafe on Leeson Street is a charming little corner eatery which oozes nothing but ambience, serving up a delectable menu that truly tastes like summer.

With items like Linguine, Chicken Supreme, Fish & Chips, Buffalo Wings and other fare that tastes like a sunny holiday al fresco dining experience, this restaurant knows what it does and does it well.

Canal Bank Cafe has been in business since 2001 and has navigated its way through an ever changing restaurant scene in Dublin, including a global recession and a pandemic.

Now in business for over 20 years, Canal Bank Cafe continues to be a favourite for family gatherings, business meetings, romantic evenings and a host of other clientele, as owner Trevor Browne explains.

He told Dublin Live: "Our menu is not too complicated. There's something for everybody.

"We've got some really good chefs in the kitchen who have been with us for years."

In an age of rising costs in practically every aspect of life, value for money is always appreciated. With an accessible menu that is as stylish as one of a more expensive restaurant, Canal Bank Cafe might just be one of the best payday eateries in Dublin.

What do we recommend? The Spicy Buffalo Wings were simply delicious. The half portion, which costs €9.95, was nothing short of generous in size. It's a starter you could easily share with someone else and still be satisfied with.

Another notable win for this place is its staff, a team of bubbly and friendly servers who are on hand to welcome you and even make you a skinny margarita, which brings us onto our next tasty experience here.

Inspired by the lifestyle of Palm Springs in California, the skinny margarita is a delicious cocktail that accompanies a range of other voguish concoctions on the drinks list.

"In Dublin at the moment, there's a big trend in margaritas. Everyone loves drinking them. It's a really fun drink and we do a particularly good one. You've got to try it," Trevor told us.

While Canal Bank Cafe has a menu that is likely to suit the desires of everyone in the family, we recommend this place in particular for daters. With its ambient lighting and fine selection of drinks, it makes for one cosy get together.
