Canada OAS payment increase: Seniors to get more money from October 28 as 2026 benefit rises 1.4% — new monthly amounts, GIS, payment dates and tax rules explained

Canadian seniors are set to see a bigger Old Age Security payment this fall, with the federal government confirming a 1.4% increase in OAS benefits for the October to December 2026 quarter.

The increase will take effect with the October 28, 2026 OAS payment and will bring the year-over-year increase in OAS benefits to 3.0% from October 2025 to October 2026, according to the Government of Canada.
