Can you see who has viewed your TikTok?

TikTok is a video sharing app owned by Beijing-based tech company ByteDance, and is used by millions around the world to scroll through its endless funny videos, life hacks, and everything in between. Launched in 2017, it quickly saw its popularity surge, eventually becoming the most downloaded app in 2021 with more than 650m downloads worldwide – that is more than 100m more downloads than Instagram.

It has now become the sixth most popular social media network and boasts 1bn users worldwide every month, according to market and consumer data company Statista. Since its launch, it has been updated to allow a whole host of new features, one of which is ‘Profile view history’, which was added to the app earlier this year, so if you want to find out who has been creeping on your profile, read on.

The ‘Profile view history’ function allows TikTok users to see who has viewed their profile in the last 30 days. Likewise, if you view someone else’s TikTok profile and you both have the feature enabled, the other user will be able to see you viewed their profile too.

If you enable the feature, but a user views your profile who does not have the function enabled, they will not appear in your list of profile viewers. ‘Profile view history’ is switched off by default, and must be activated to enable it.

This can be done in just a few simple steps:

  1. Open the TikTok app and tap ‘Profile’ in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner – this is represented by three horizontal lines.
  3. Then tap ‘Settings and Privacy’ at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap ‘Privacy’, then scroll down and tap ‘Profile views’.
  5. Tap the toggle icon next to ‘Profile view history‘ to turn the feature on or off – the toggle will turn blue when the function is activated.

Note that not everyone will have access to this feature, as it is only available for those aged 16 or over and have fewer than 5,000 followers. Once you have enabled ‘Profile view history’, you can find out who has viewed your profile in three easy steps.

  1. Tap ‘Inbox’ at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select ‘Activities’.
  3. Then tap ‘Profile views’.

You will then see notifications informing you which accounts have viewed your profile in the last 30 days and when they viewed it.
