Amazon shoppers may be able to get their weekly food shop for less during one of the biggest sale events of the year. Amazon Prime Day starts on Tuesday, July 12 and promises shoppers 48 hours of savings across thousands of products.
Those who are Amazon Prime members will be able to take advantage of some of the biggest discounts on items which will include everything from tech, including Amazon devices, to fashion and beauty and household appliances. Not a Prime member? Sign up for a free 30 day trial here to take part in Prime Day.
What some consumers may not realise though is that Amazon also delivers groceries, and many shoppers have started to buy their weekly shop on the site to take advantage of the Prime savings. Amazon sells thousands of grocery items including fresh produce, household essentials, plus popular and specialist brands through Amazon Fresh or via Morrisons.

Many Prime members are turning to Amazon for their food shop due to the same-day click and collect offer with selected Morrisons stores. It means that those who place their order by lunchtime can be cooking in time for dinner - plus shoppers are able to update their order right up until Amazon start picking their items.
Tracking orders is also possible via the Amazon app so shoppers will know exactly what time to turn the oven on. Same-day grocery delivery is included within a Prime membership for orders over £40 in a two-hour delivery slot. Delivery is £3.99 for orders under £40, with a minimum spend £15.
In terms of Amazon Prime Day however, can a grocery shop be included in those massive savings? Usually Amazon Prime discounts thousands of items and it has never normally included groceries before.
While individual food items from the grocery section probably won't appeal on the Prime sale page and Lightning Deals page, there is offers on. Those who sign up to Amazon Prime can get either £10 or £15 off their first three grocery shops.
The deal, which runs until July 31, 2022, is personalised to each Prime member, depending on location and availability, so some shoppers may get £10 off their first three shops online, others may get £15 off their first three shops in Amazon Fresh stores.
Available now, new customers who shop Amazon Fresh online can get £15 off any order over £50 or more and this deal is valid on their first three shops with same-day delivery. Find out more about the deal here.
Same-day grocery delivery on Amazon.co.uk is available exclusively for Prime members, in select locations, subject to delivery slot availability. In a few regions where an invitation is required to use same-day grocery delivery, shoppers can sign up for an invitation without a Prime membership.
Once they are able to shop Amazon will notify you and remind you to sign up for a Prime membership in order to shop. Amazon offer delivery nationally from Amazon Fresh, Morrisons and Co-op but what’s available to you will depend on your postcode.
