Like Alice Renton (Letters, 27 April), I have found the coverage of the royal family for the past few weeks most distasteful. The Guardian should cover more exciting developments regarding stamps, spoons, carriages, bellringers, concerts, crown jewels and so on, rather than exposing the unearned wealth of an unelected ruler.

• Your article (Jess Cartner-Morley’s forever fashion: ‘I’ve had this dress 21 years. When I say “this old thing”, I mean it’, 27 April) reminded me that I have a sweatshirt I bought from the Body Shop that had “Now you see them, soon you won’t ... ” on the front, and “extinct is forever” on the back. I wore it when pregnant with my first child. I still wear it. He’s 33 this year.
