Campaign misstep? Herschel Walker’s strategy — double down

ATLANTA — Herschel Walker’s claims that he worked in law enforcement were debunked as untrue. So it would seem like he’d want to steer clear of the topic.

But on Tuesday, Walker’s campaign trumpeted the endorsement of former Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren, virtually guaranteeing the story would end up back in the news.

“Herschel Walker partnered with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for over 15 years while I was sheriff,” Warren said. “I was proud to name him as an honorary deputy sheriff due to his tireless efforts in support of law enforcement.”
