The School Bank West Lothian have launched their Sponsor a Child campaign ahead of the summer break in a bid to ensure all school pupils in the county have everything needed once they return from the holidays.
While most children start the new school year with brand new uniform, it is sadly not the case for all children.
Last year, with the help of 300 sponsors, the organisation were able to provide over 700 uniform packs for children across West Lothian, starting or returning to school in August.
With each school pack provided, a family can worry less about coping with the ever-increasing cost of the school day, and a child can worry less about how they look compared to their classmates.
School uniform is so much more than a new uniform or a pair of shiny shoes, it’s the feeling of belonging to your school community and being like your classmates.
There are different ways you can help and support the School Bank West Lothian campaign:
You can become a sponsor and buy a uniform pack. Once registered, you will be contacted once The School Bank West Lothian receives a referral for the child and then it’s up top you to buy any of the items required.

Alternatively, if you don’t have the time to shop but would still like to sponsor a child you can donate via Charities Aid Foundation. The items will be purchased for you and given to a child. Top donate, visit here
You can also donate items such as brand-new socks, tights, school bags, PE kits or second-hand uniforms and jackets that are no longer needed.
