The Duchess of Cornwall liked to be by the sea on Tuesday and tucked into “Fish and Chips” by the world famous Southend pier.
While her husband Charles was greeting fans, Camilla nipped into Sands on Sea to grab some cod and chips.
She topped it off with a “Wally” - a picked gherkin and Tatar sauce.
Philip Miller, whose family owns the restaurant and Adventure Island amusement park, said: “The visit was tremendous for Southend. The turn out was brilliant.
“When she came into we offered her cod and chips and she had them in the board room. She thoroughly enjoyed them.”
The royals later enjoyed a walk along the beach together.
During the walkabout along the sea front, Charles was asked about the health of the Queen.
Janice Jacom, 64, an admin worker from a local golf course, asked about the Queen’s health.
She said: "I asked the prince about his mother and he said ‘she’s a lot better now - it was very mild’.
“It was a bit worrying as the Queen is getting on a bit but I think she’s absolutely wonderful.”
Southend-on-Sea is famous for being home to the longest pleasure Pier in the world.
A Pier has been situated in Southend-on-Sea since 1830 with the current iron Pier opening in January 1898.
It stretches 1.33 miles into the Thames Estuary.
Southend can attract up to 75,000 visitors a month during the summer.
The £3.25m pier train replacement project is seeing the existing diesel trains, which have been in operation on the Pier since 1986, replaced with new, eco-friendly trains, designed in heritage green and cream following a public vote
