Cameron Diaz, 49, says she was 'really strong' before injury stopped her in her tracks

Cameron Diaz revealed an injury to her Achilles left her unable to work out for almost a year.

The Charlie's Angels actress, 49, said 'going easy is the way through it' after being used to 'being strong' for most of her life.

Writing in Gwyneth Paltrow 's goop newsletter, Cameron explained: "I’m still healing from an injured Achilles, so I’ve been away from working out for eight months.

"I used to be really strong and really active, and I was made to sort of be still for a while. And for anyone who’s been trying to come back from something like that—it doesn’t have to be an injury; it can happen after giving birth or any process in life that stops you in your tracks—going easy on yourself is the way through it.

"Being so strong most of my life, I was used to going hard and leaning into my strength, and I’ve had to do the opposite. I took so many steps in my mind before I ever took an actual step."

She said she spent a lot of her time lying on the floor figuring out 'what her body needed' during her healing process.

The Other Woman star didn't 'jump back' into her usual lifestyle and allowed herself time to process.

"I’m looking forward to all the aspects of growth to come in my 50s. I’m working on building my muscle mass so I’ll have it as my hormones change," she explained.

Cameron previously appeared on Goop to discuss motherhood (GOOP)

Cameron and Gwyneth have been pals for a while, with The Holiday star previously appearing on Goop for an interview in 2020.

At that time, Cameron credited Gwyneth for 'never letting up on her' when it came to her having children.

The mum-of-one, who shares Raddix with husband Benji Madden, confessed: "You used to talk, I’d be like: 'I’m not having kids.' And you’re like: 'You are having kids, you’re getting married, you’re having children.'

"And I was like: 'No, I’m not!' And you’re like: 'You have to do it, you have to!' And I was like: 'I’m not gonna do it'."

Cameron continued: "You were just on me all the time. You were like: 'You have to. You don’t understand. If you don’t do this you will be so sad that you didn't do it.'

"And so I credit you so much with the fact that you never let up on me."
