Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josip Juranovic Celtic absences explained by Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou has revealed the reason behind Cameron Carter-Vickers and Josip Juranovic missing out against St Mirren.

The Celtic boss has named a much-changed side as his league leaders bid to make it seven wins on the bounce and maintain their 100 per cent record against Stephen Robinson's Buddies in Paisley ahead of the international break. In the six league outings to date, the visitors have scored an incredible 25 goals including four against Rangers and nine at Dundee United.

From the XI that picked up a share of the spoils in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk during the week, the Aussie gaffer has made six changes. Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh, Aaron Mooy, David Turnbull, Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda have all been handed starting spots and the chance to impress in a bid to secure a regular slot in the team.

Giorgos Giakoumakis, Jota, Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate are amongst those on a very strong bench for the Scottish champions but the headline names missing out completely are Carter-Vickers and Juranovic.

USA international Carter-Vickers has been an ever-present since his arrival at Parkhead - initially on a loan deal from Tottenham before his permanent transfer this summer - and played every single minute both domestically and in Europe so far this campaign ahead of today's game.

On the absence of the duo, he told BBC Sportsound: "We've got good cover.

"Cameron [Carter-Vickers] pulled up a bit sore the other day while Josip [Juranovic] has played a lot of football.

"Tony [Ralston] is ready to go so we are comfortable with that."
