A northwest London pub has unveiled its iconic new mural based on the famous cartoon sitcom The Simpsons in the wake of World Simpsons Day on Tuesday.
The mural on the side of the Old Eagle pub in Camden first appeared in January, and depicts the unmistakable brown family couch from the sitcom’s title sequence.
The painting of the iconic Springfield living room, featuring the memorable lopsided painting of a boat on the Simpson family’s wall, was done by street artist Stephen Gonzalez (@elvissey_art).
The artwork covers a conveniently placed electrical box, which means visitors can mount the mural and sit on the beloved couch.
The pub’s landlord, Alison McGrath, told the Camden New Journal that the artwork had been a hit with tourists and passersby, with many of them stopping for photos.
She said: “It’s bright, colourful, and international – as well as generationally friendly.
“And I don’t know how many photo opportunities have turned into pints.”
The wall of the Camden pub was redesigned after its previous eagle mural was covered by graffiti.
