O’Neil’s Boxing Club have hailed Taylor McMahon and Jacob Naismith after their successes at the Western District Championships.
Both fighters won their showpiece events to take home top prizes at the event last month.
McMahon went all the way with his opponent, Aaron Bennett, in what was an even fight throughout.
But the Cambuslang gym’s fighter came out on top to clam victory.
Naismith, meanwhile, faced Culloch Gibson and won by split decision in what was another even contest.
It’s more success for O’Neil’s following a strong outing at the Scottish Novice Championships, where four fighters won gold medals; Rhys Purcell, Jacob Reilly, Zik Ugbolue and Adam Patton.
Coach Brian Murphy said: “Well done to Taylor McMahon on winning his final in the Western District Championships against a very tough and relentless opponent in Aaron Bennett.
“Both boxers gave a great account of themselves with Taylor keeping the fight at distance to secure the points and the championship.
“Jacob Naismith who fought a hard contest with Southside’s Culloch Gibson to win a by split decision.
“It was a very tough contest with both lads giving there all from the first bell in a contest with two very evenly matched boxers. Well done Jacob.”
