Cambridge University investigating professor over Reform UK donations sting

  • Cambridge University has launched an investigation into associate professor James Orr following allegations he breached political donation rules.
  • Dr Orr has stepped down as Reform UK ’s head of policy alongside aide Dan Jukes after an undercover probe alleged they arranged for polling to be paid for by an overseas firm.
  • Rival political parties have reported Reform UK to the police over allegations the party accepted £32,500 from a US business for three polls.
  • Reform UK leader Nigel Farage insisted nothing illegal took place, dismissing comments as loose pub talk, though party chairman Lee Anderson confirmed the pair were forced to step down.
  • Dr Orr, whose ideas are influenced by Christian nationalism, previously suggested that Britain should establish an agency equivalent to Donald Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
