Ward's achievement surpassed the previous Division I record held by Case Keenum of Houston.
Ward, a first-team Associated Press All-American and the ACC Player of the Year, finished the game with a total of 158 touchdown passes. Despite his remarkable career, Ward may soon face competition from Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, who has 153 touchdown passes to his name.
