Cam Smith's Ripper GC have failed to go back to back at the LIV Golf Team Championship, losing their quarter-final 2-1 in Michigan.

It has been a poor year for the Australian team on the LIV circuit, but they entered this weekend's event, offering the winners a prize of $US14 million ($A21.6 million), as defending champions.
