Calvin Ramsay medical update as Liverpool move in on £6.5m transfer confirmation

Calvin Ramsay is currently undergoing a medical ahead of completing his £6.5m transfer to Liverpool.

The Reds agreed an initial £4m fee plus £2.5m in add-ons with Aberdeen for the Scotland Under-21s international earlier this week, with the 18-year-old pencilled in to undergo his medical at the weekend at the earliest.

And the ECHO understands the defender started his medical on Friday night, with the main chunk of the procedure taking place on Saturday.

Should no problems emerge, Ramsay will then be confirmed as a Liverpool player having already agreed personal terms on a five-year contract.

The teenager will join up with Jurgen Klopp ’s first team for pre-season. There, the Reds will assess the defender and give him a proper opportunity to stake his claim and integrate with the squad.

Having already signed Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez this summer, Ramsay’s arrival is expected to conclude Liverpool’s incoming business, with a midfielder now their priority of the summer of 2023.

However, after agreeing a €41m deal with Bayern Munich for Sadio Mane, there could still be plenty of outgoings at Anfield.

Reports in Germany claim the Senegalese will undergo his own medical tests on Tuesday ahead of completing his Liverpool exit, while the likes of Takumi Minamino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Neco Williams and Nat Phillips all continue to attract interest from elsewhere.
