English Premier League clubs are queuing up to sign £25m-rated Calvin Bassey, according to a report.
But it's claimed a deal to take him away from Ibrox is NOT expected imminently - with the Rangers defender focused on Nigeria duty for the foreseeable.
Bassey was one of the star turn in their run to the Europa League final and at just 22, he's been tipped for a Virgil van Dijk-esque rise to the top.
A Leicester academy product, he's highly thought of down south and has been linked with a reunion with Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.
The Telegraph say there are bid expected later in the summer with "several" Premier League clubs keen on a deal.
They also note though that Bassey is focused on representing his country for now, with four games to come between now and 13 June.
Rangers' domestic season starts on the weekend of 30 July with their Champions League campaign starting on 2 August - leaving them a substantial window to field bids and still be prepared in time for the season starts.
And while Bassey is believed to be open to an exit if Rangers' reported asking price in excess of £25m is met, he is understood to be happy at Ibrox and is unlikely to push for an exit.
Rangers are in no pressure to sell with Bassey under contract until 2024.
He's said to be interested in joining Gerrard at Villa but the Midlands club just landed Sevilla's Diego Carlos for close to £30m - so it remains to be seen if they are willing to go in with a huge bid for another centre-back.
Brendan Rodgers is aware of his talents at former club Leicester while Arsenal, having seen how well Kieran Tierney has adapted to the Premier League, might also be in the frame.
