Calum Best follows father George's footballing footsteps in new reality TV venture

Calum Best will be following in his father's footsteps by joining a new television documentary series.

The reality star is the chairman of Dorking Wanderers FC Ladies and will be part of the series called Squad Goals.

He is familiar with the world of football thanks to his father George Best - a Northern Irish footballer.

"I see this series as an opportunity to show what grassroots women’s football is all about – the challenges, the hard work and the highs and lows of a team and a club looking to create something special," Calum explained.

Filming will be for the third series called Squad Goals 3: Dorking Til I Die. It is due to be aired later this year.

The Dorking ladies team is only in its second season, but the club is anticipating considerable growth, with a new stadium in the pipeline.

Calum will be focused on creating a great reputation for the team as he uses his family's footballing history.

His father George spent most of his career playing for Manchester United.

He was named European Footballer of the Year in 1968 and came sixth in the FIFA Player of the Century vote.

George married former Playboy bunny Angela MacDonald-Janes in 1978 at a chapel in Las Vegas.

They met in the United States when George was playing for the Los Angeles Aztecs in 1976.

After welcoming Calum in 1981, the couple separated a year later and divorced in 1986.

Calum, meanwhile, is best known for his appearances on many reality dating shows, such as Celebrity Love Island in 2006.

He has had many failed flings and relationships but previously said he refuses to describe himself as unlucky in love.

"The thing is, if I can't find a f*****g Mrs in my private life then I'm going to try elsewhere," he joked.

"I remember I was once told if opportunities come your way take them and if they're opportunities that are with the best intentions then go for it and this came about."
