Callum Roberts update issued as Chesterfield face huge injury crisis for Notts County clash

Callum Roberts must pass a fitness test if he is going to be available for Notts County clash against Chesterfield tomorrow night.

The Magpies face the Spireites with injury doubts over the star winger who picked up a knock in the draw against Halifax last Tuesday.

Roberts, who has scored 11 goals this season, did not make the bench for the victory over Woking at the weekend with head coach Ian Burchnall coy on his chances of facing Paul Cook's side.

But asked about Roberts' chances of making the game in his pre-match press conference on Monday, Burchnall has not ruled him out of playing some part.

"He did some training today and then we'll probably test him on the morning of the game," he said.

"I'd say he's 50/50 at the moment."

Notts' injury problems are minuscule compared to Chesterfield who have eight players on the sidelines and one player suspended.

George Carline, Luke Croll, Haydn Hollis, Manny Oyeleke, Jak McCourt, Jack Clarke and Kabongo Tshimanga are all injured while Danny Rowe continues to be out with a health issue.

The lost off Tshimanga is a huge blow for the Spireites given he is the club's top scorer but suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle in a 1-1 draw at Weymouth.

Midfielder Curtis Weston will also be absent as he serves the last match of a three-game ban.

Chesterfield are also assessing the fitness of striker Tom Denton after he injured his ankle against Yeovil at the weekend.
