Callum Paterson Hearts transfer latest as Sheffield Wednesday boss responds to speculation

Darren Moore has responded to speculation over Callum Paterson and a return to Hearts.

The Sheffield Wednesday star - out of contract in the summer and free to talk to other clubs in a matter of weeks - is one who is interesting Robbie Neilson with the Tynecastle gaffer admitting he is one who is definietly on a list of targets with the January transfer window just around the corner.

The 28-year-old, who has been capped 17 times by Scotland, made well over 100 apperances during his time in Gorgie with his former club keen to do a deal to take him back north of the border. However, current club boss Moore admits the English League One side have not heard anything official from Hearts and will treat the talk as just speculation.

Speaking to The Star, he said: “We’ve had nothing official at all… I’ve not heard anything, but it is relatively early. I’ve heard nothing from Hearts, so I can’t really comment on that.

“He’s part of the plans, and what you’ve said is hearsay. As far as I’m concerned he remains and keeps doing what he’s doing for us.

“He’s played his part, and will continue to do so. I’ll just treat it as speculation because we’ve not had an official approach.”

Speaking earlier this week about Patterson, Neilson said: “I know Callum is out of contract at the end of the season, and he is one we have looked at.

“But he’s a Sheffield Wednesday player at the moment.

“We have a number of targets we are eyeing up ahead of the January window in certain positions.

“Callum’s one who is definitely on the list.

“But it’s whether it gets done or not.”
