Callum McGregor names Celtic Player of the Year as Liel Abada claims youth gong

CELTIC captain Callum McGregor has been named as the club's Player of the Year.

The midfielder, 28, also picked up the Players' Player of the Year prize in his first season as captain of the club.

McGregor has been everpresent for Celtic this season and stepped up to take on the captain's role after Scott Brown departed in the summer.

He's already played 49 times for Celtic this season, scoring four goals and assisting five.

Meanwhile, Liel Abada picked up the trophy for Young Player of the Season at the end-of-season awards dinner tonight.

The Israeli winger, 20, joined from Maccabi Petah Tikva in July for a reported £3.5m fee.

And the youngster has made a major contribution in his first season in Glasgow.

Abada has featured 52 times under Ange Postecoglou with an impressive return of 15 goals and 11 assists.
