Call to join 'stunning' Scottish independence march over Skye bridge

YESSERS are set to cross the sea to Skye in an All Under One Banner (AUOB) march for independence.

The demonstration from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin aims to give rural and island communities the chance to show their support for a Scotland free of the Union.

The August 26 march is the fourth in a series of six national demonstrations being organised by AUOB this year.

Yes Skye and Lochalsh co-ordinator Carole Inglis said: "It's great to see AUOB reaching out to all corners of Scotland, giving rural and island communities the opportunity to show their support for Scottish independence.

“We already have a small dedicated group of walkers who cross the bridge every week in all weathers, and so we hope that there will be a good turnout and look forward to welcoming all.”

Marchers are asked to gather early, with the march leaving at 12.30pm “sharp”.

The procession route is: Kyle of Lochalsh Leisure Centre, Douglas Row, Plock Street, Main Street, Stoney Road, Skye Bridge (footpath), Caol Acain, Kyleside, grass area in front of Kings Arms Hotel, Kyleakin.

Gordon McCrae, the AUOB organiser for the demonstration, said: "On Saturday we march for independence from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin, over the sea to Skye. We hope you are as excited as we are! What a stunning setting for an AUOB march.

“This will be the fourth in a series of six national demonstrations taking place across Scotland this year, for the broad independence movement to express ourselves and show support is strong, and that together we shall exercise the right to be an independent nation.

“As always AUOB, extends a warm welcome to everyone who desires an independent Scotland to march all under one banner, for independence now. For a prosperous, more equal nation which prioritises people over profit and bairns not bombs."
