Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026 features 25 of the biggest esports titles, including Call of Duty. For 2026, Black Ops 7 enters the event, featuring 16 teams and a $1,800,000 prize pool.
The Black Ops 7 tournament at EWC 2026 takes place from Aug. 5 to Aug. 9, in two stages: the group stage and the playoffs. In the group stage, two groups of eight compete in a double-elimination format, with the top four from each group advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs are a best-of-seven single-elimination bracket with the best-of-nine grand finals.

Among 16 participating teams, 12 are all the CDL teams, three are the top CDL Challengers teams, and one is the winner of the EWC Last Chance Qualifier. Both qualifying events to determine Challengers and Last Chance Qualifier teams take place in July, towards the end of the regular CDL season.
Here are all the Black Ops 7 events relevant to EWC 2026:
- 2026 CDL Challengers Finals: July 17-19
- EWC Last Chance Qualifier: July 31 – August 1
- EWC: Aug. 5 – 9
OpTic Texas won EWC 2025 and returns as a title defender alongside the rest of the CDL teams. The team already had a relatively strong start to the 2026 season, taking second place at both Majors. At the same time, the winners of Major 1 (Paris Gentle Mates) and Major 2 (FaZe Vegas) are also strong contenders heading into EWC 2026.

Apart from Black Ops 7, Warzone is coming back to the Esports World Cup with the Warzone Resurgence Series (WRS). WRS is a new circuit launched in 2026 that features pure competition between some of the best teams.
EWC 2026 is the culmination of the WRS, with teams securing qualification spots throughout the year to compete for the $1,000,000 prize pool. This includes two LAN events and a dedicated EWC qualifier.
Here are all the WRS events happening throughout the year:
- CoD WRS: Birmingham: March 28 – 29
- CoD WRS: Atlanta: May 16 – 17
- EWC qualifiers: June 2026
- EWC: July 29 – Aug. 1
Birmingham and Atlanta events both offer five EWC qualification spots. However, the main way for teams to enter is through the EWC qualifiers. It offers 22 spots split across multiple regions, making for a total of 32 teams.
From CoD WRS: Birmingham, the following teams have qualified for EWC 2026: Team Falcons, Los Corillos, Virtus.Pro, and Ravens Esports. The fifth team from Birmingham was Twisted Minds, but it’s already going to the event as a title defender. With the Birmingham event concluded, the next stop is Atlanta in May, with the qualifiers kicking off on April 6.
