'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6' is Bringing Back Double XP Tokens From Previous Games in the Franchise

Developer Treyarch is bringing back double XP tokens that were available in previous games to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

This comes after the latest entry in the franchise supposedly dropped the "Carry Forward" feature that lets players use double XP tokens they bought across different games.

But a recent update that introduced a UI glitch made the legacy XP visible in the live Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 build.

Double XP Tokens

However, the developers immediately released a second patch that removed them once again.

Treyarch argued that the UI glitch resulted in many issues with the game's stability. But it noted that they were working on properly integrating legacy XP tokens in a future update to the game.

Players are still able to use their legacy double XP tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 but it requires them to use a workaround.

They first need to launch Call of Duty: Warzone, activate the tokens they want to use, and then change modes to multiplayers or zombies for the former, according to Windows Central.

The Season 1 update for the latest game in the series caused the unexpected UI glitch that let players make use of their stored legacy double XP tokens. This was despite the developer saying that these will not be carried forward into Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

These tokens were often given out to players throughout the franchise's history for their participation in various limited-time events or for completing battle passes. These were also common items that were given out when Call of Duty partners without franchises.

Threat to Game Stability

Treyarch said that it realized how much Call of Duty players appreciate being able to use their double XP tokens from other games on the latest title in the franchise. It added that it was testing a way to implement the change correctly in the future, Forbes said.

The studio also did not provide much detail about the situation but reassured players that it was working on making the double XP tokens usable without causing game stability issues. This is also something that remains a mystery for most players.

After Treyarch suddenly removed the ability to use the double XP tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, many players called on the studio to reverse the decision.

This was because it was much easier for them to use these tokens when they were in one place, according to PCGamesN.
