A campaigner says the UK should introduce menstrual leave like Spain – and says the workplace has been “designed around men’s physical needs”. Laura Coryton, 29, supports Spain’s decision to introduce the leave – after it became the first European country to pass the law.
It means women who suffer from severe period pain will be allowed to take paid leave. Laura - who started the petition to end Tampon Tax in the UK - supports the law but worries it could mean more women stay at home and don’t go to their doctor if they are experiencing serious pain.
She would like to see the UK take the same action but wants menstrual products to be free in England first. Laura, a campaigner and founder of Sex Ed matters, said: “It would be amazing if it was in the UK. Period pain really impacts productivity. Period education is really important in the workplace.
