More people are being urged to consider becoming magistrates, with applications open now in the North East, as part of a national drive to increase the number and diversity of volunteers.
The Judiciary of England and the Ministry of Justice campaign has been backed by North East magistrates, where improvements have already been made in terms of diversity, as the number of volunteers who are women, as well as people under 50 have both increased.
The goal is for people in the North East to be part of a new wave of volunteers who better reflect the diversity of British society, as well as giving them the opportunity to give back to their community.
