Pasadena is developing its first Environmental Justice Element, bringing residents into the process of identifying environmental burdens and gaps in access to services across the California city. As part of the initiative, the city is holding “Neighbourhood Walk and Roll” events alongside surveys, workshops and other outreach activities. Residents are being encouraged to share their experiences of neighbourhood conditions, while city staff examine pollution, housing, parks, mobility and other factors. The information will help shape policies and priorities in the proposed Environmental Justice Element. City officials expect the final Environmental Justice Element to guide future infrastructure investments and policy decisions aimed at reducing disparities across Pasadena's neighbourhoods.
