Manchester United fans were left infuriated by David de Gea after the goalkeeper’s mistake led to Everton’s equaliser in Manchester United’s FA Cup clash on Friday.
A byline ball from Neal Maupay on 14 minutes squirmed between the legs of the slow-looking Spaniard, allowing Conor Coady to fire the ball home from a couple of yards and cancel out Antony’s fourth-minute opener.
This came just moments after a shot from Andre Gray had ricocheted off the post and onto the back of De Gea after, rolling just wide of the post. It’s the first goal United have conceded since returning from the World Cup break and it gifted Everton a route back into the game.

Earlier this week, De Gea indicated he would sign to stay on at United with his future still not secure while currently in the final year of his contract. The shot-stopper is the longest-serving active squad member after signing in 2011, and his existing deal contains a one-year extension.
The Everton clash came too soon for new signing Jack Butland who has arrived from Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season. He replaces Martin Dubravka who requested to end his loan spell early after an underwhelming five months.
Other back-ups to De Gea include Tom Heaton and Nathan Bishop, but neither was given the nod against the Toffees - although after De Gea’s mistake some fans may have wished they had.
