White Sox's 40-year premiership drought will continue for at least another year after Mayfield Boomerangs claimed back-to-back titles in Newcastle Baseball's first-grade grand final on Saturday.
Playing on home turf at Plattsburg Park in Wallsend, White Sox were chasing their first title in the men's top flight since 1986.
But Boomerangs, who ended their own 32-year premiership drought last year, prevailed 5-2 in a match where the result hung in the balance for much of the contest.
