Caitlin Clark explained why being left off Team USA might have been the best thing for her

Everyone loves to argue about everything when it comes to Caitlin Clark, but one of the particular hot-button issues surrounding her this season was the decision USA Basketball’s decision to overlook her for a spot on the Olympic team for 2024.

Team USA explained why it made the decision and it was completely reasonable. Even Clark said she understood it. Yet, still, people couldn’t stop talking about it.

But, as it turns out, Clark being left off the team may have actually been a good thing for her in the long run. She said so herself when asked about it at All-Star weekend.

“Obviously, my dream, my goal was to be there and to be there at some point. But, I think getting this break is going to be very beneficial for myself. It’s something I deserve. And, at times, I’m just somebody who want to continue to work — continue to play. And there has to be a point where that has to stop and you have to take care of yourself and do things for yourself.”

She’s absolutely right. She deserves this time off. Clark has been playing basketball non-stop since last fall at this point. It’ll be good for her to take a few weeks off, get some rest and soak everything that’s happened in.

More power to her.
