Cafe that opened in the thick of pandemic named the best in Nottinghamshire

It was a rollercoaster when Jamie Battersby opened the doors of his cafe No. 18 Coffee and Eatery as Covid was rife and the rules kept changing by the week. But nearly two years on his perseverance paid off after being named the best cafe in Nottinghamshire at England's Business Awards.

Jamie and his team picked up their award during a ceremony for businesses across the region at the Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport. He said: "We were all speechless when they said our name. There was a long list of other nominees and we thought we'd got no chance. It was quite a surreal moment. I have no idea who nominated us. I never thought we would win.

"The response we've had on Instagram and Facebook has been just as overwhelming, all the lovely comments we got. I'm so, so happy. To have achieved this is under two years is pretty good going."
