Cadillac’s stars and stripes Miami GP livery leaves F1 fans calling for more

The Cadillac Formula 1 team has unveiled its special livery for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix, but it has left fans calling for more.

As the American outfit prepares for its first home grand prix at the Hard Rock Stadium circuit, it revealed a new stars and stripes livery. The design is an evolution of its full-season black-and-white theme, with the stars and stripes of the United States flag faded onto the engine cover and 50 stars on the front wing.

Some colour has also been added to the rear wing, with 'USA' printed on a red, white and blue background.

While some fans complimented the new design, including some who urged Cadillac to retain the Miami special livery for the remainder of the season, others called for more colour.

"If they don't come with an American flag livery with colours and everything for Austin GP, I'll be really disappointed," one fan commented on Reddit, while another added: "One red star and one blue star could have been cool. I know white and black is their thing but a touch of themed colour for the home debut?"

"The lack of colour is so boring. I miss the old days when we had a ton of colour on the grid. This black/white or even worse the carbon heavy liveries are just sad to see. IndyCar does an amazing job of using bright colours, so it’s just lame to see F1 falling further and further behind every other racing series," wrote another fan.

Someone else posted: "It's nice, it's a great base and looks very clean. But it's just very boring. No colour. Haas is white with red. Racing bulls is white with blue and some red and yellow. Caddy is just white with black. The concept liveries based on their other race cars in WEC looked so much more exciting and different."

The Miami Grand Prix weekend will take place from 1-3 May and will feature the second sprint race of the season.

Cadillac currently sits 10th in the constructors' standings, only ahead of Aston Martin.
