It’s a big day for former Ohio State star quarterback C.J. Stroud as he has officially signed with the Houston Texans.
After getting drafted with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 draft, Stroud and the Texans have officially inked a four-year contract for $36.3 Million fully guaranteed. The deal comes just in time for the Texans’ training camp which starts on Wednesday.
The former Buckeye star has a tall task to turn around a Texans franchise that has been a complete disaster in recent years. Transitioning to the NFL will be an adjustment for Stroud as with any rookie quarterback.
Looking around the current landscape of star quarterbacks in the NFL nearly all of them either struggled or just didn’t start as rookies. This should be kept in mind when evaluating Stroud’s rookie performance.

As we saw with his play at Ohio State however Stroud has the skill set to be a star in the NFL. His combination of anticipation and accuracy is already at a high level and we saw his potential creating outside of structure in the Georgia game.
Buckeye nation wishes C.J. the best as he starts a new chapter in his football career.
