Busy scenes at Gedling Country Park as families enjoy Easter and warm temperatures

A four-day Easter bank holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity to unwind and spend time with family and friends. And with the sun shining and temperatures topping 21 degrees Celsius in Nottingham, hundreds of families could be seen enjoying the sun and great outdoors at Gedling Country Park.

People of all ages were soaking up the sun - from children playing in the play area, to older couples enjoying an ice cream together; it seemed all of Gedling was out enjoying the time off and nice weather. And a number of families could be seen spending quality time together.

Keely Jones, 34, from Bestwood Park, was enjoying the great outdoors with her daughter Aleigha Wales-Jones, aged six. Keely said: "We've come here today and we're going swimming a little later. We're going to come back here on Sunday as well to see cousins. I'm so glad the sun has come out, but it's a shame it hasn't come out sooner. The kids have been off for two weeks but at least it has come out."

Kirsty Bridges, 49, who lives on Westdale Lane on the Mapperley and Carlton border, was out with her son. She said: "We're out with my daughter's dog, and we're going to meet up with her and all go around here. We're taking advantage of the weather, it's beautiful today. I've not got any other plans as I'm without my car at the moment. But I'll probably spend some time in the garden over the weekend."

Rob and Karen Colley, both retired and who live in Woodthorpe, had parked up to walk their pet pooch Zoe, six, for a dog walk at the country park.

Rob said: "This place is great. We'll be avoiding the crowds today while enjoying the sun while we can. Karen added: "We're out walking the dog today. We've got no plans for Easter."

Some had come out to meet up with friends. Ellie Staley, 27, who was visiting the park from Derbyshire, said: "I'm meeting up with a friend and we're going for a walk with her son too. For the rest of the weekend, we're going to Lincolnshire Wolds, because we're going to climb Mount Snowden the weekend after.

"We're taking my partner's mother up there as she's always wanted to do it. I hope there will be a little rain next weekend to cool us down on the way up."
