A busy city centre street is due to close in November for filming of an upcoming TV show.
Traffic will be blocked from driving down Water Street, a busy road connecting the Strand and the waterfront with Dale Street and the city centre, for a evening next month as a company uses the area for the production of a new programme. Pending permission from the Liverpool City Council, part of the road will be closed as filming takes place for the new Paramount+ series, Sexy Beast, in the area.
A large green screen will be set up on Water Street's pavement opposite Tower Gardens, with technical and equipment vehicles parked on High Street and Exchange Street West. Filming itself will take place in the gardens of St Nicholas Church and Tower Gardens.

A letter sent out to people and businesses based in the area confirmed the filming will take place from 10pm on Monday, November 7 to 1am Tuesday, November 8. It also assured them pedestrian access will not be inhibited, neither will access to the Tower Building car park on Tower Gardens, by the production.
Harvey Shaw, assistant location manager for SB Productions Ltd, producing the series, said the company is "working closely with the Liverpool Film Office and Merseyside Police to ensure filming happens as smoothly as possible."
Sexy Beast is a prequel series to the 2001 film of the same name featuring Sir Ben Kingsley, Ray Winstone and Ian McShane. This year parts of Liverpool used for the filming, and in August, Anfield's Jumbo Cafe was turned into "Copper Grill" and Bingley Road's street sign was changed to Strawberry Lane, with "E1" and "London Borough of Hackney" written on it.
The show will tell the story of the characters of the original film, which starred Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane, Amanda Redman and Ray Winstone, and how they found themselves central to London's criminal underbelly. The show is one of many new original series to come to Paramount+, which has already released video game adaptation Halo and The Offer, which tells the story of the filming of The Godfather.
