Buskers in Killarney could now face fines or prosecution if they do not obey new by-laws requiring them to keep their music at a certain level as well as capping their playing time.
Street performers in the town popular with tourists could be slapped with a fine of €75 or prosecution in the District Court for not adhering to strict new rules, Newstalk reports.
Amplifiers must be kept below 80 decibels and playing time has now been curtailed to two hours.

Mayor of Killarney, Councillor Niall Kelleher, stressed to Newstalk Breakfast radio that older guidelines weren't being followed, and so new by-laws have been introduced.
He stated that buskers are welcome but the guidelines must be followed within the Kerry town.
Some additional rules to follow include moving 50 metres away following a two-hour busking stint as well as prosecution for those operating without a permit.
Cllr Kelleher detailed that some buskers were using foul language, staying for too long and often had their music too loud while performing on the street.
The new measures have been introduced to help businesses along those streets.
Cllr Kelleher added that if the new guidelines aren't followed then a permit for the busker could be refused.
