Businessman saves Paisley gaming cafe from closure and wants it to be "here for years to come"

A gaming enthusiast has saved a Paisley comic book store and cafe from going bust out of "love" for the community.

Businessman Aaron Brown, who stays in the town, rescued Comicrazy Cafe from going out of business after it looked certain to shut.

Aaron had been going to Comicrazy Cafe for years before stepping in to save the business and has promised the community and customers that nothing will drastically change.

He is delighted that the cafe is sticking around and has vowed to respect the legacy of the business. He said: "I have been going to Comicrazy Cafe for years. It is a place where like-minded individuals can gather and have a laugh over games.

“I run a few other businesses, but keeping Comicrazy Cafe about was something I was very passionate about. I don’t want people labelling me as a “hero” because I did this out of the love I have for the community and the cafe.

“I want to keep things just as it was because John Gilbert, the previous owner, did a great job of running the cafe. I will add a few of my own twists but things will mostly be staying the same.”

Comicrazy is in Old Sneddon Street and has been a key feature in the community for many years. Aaron says he has great memories of playing games and having fun with friends there. He describes it as a place people know that they can go to and feel welcome.

The cafe holds games - from family board games to Pokemon - and weekly gaming tournaments players can enter and win prizes.

Aaron, who is originally from North Ayrshire, wants to ensure the Paisley gaming community that the cafe is going nowhere, adding: "I want to let everyone know that this cafe isn’t going anywhere as I want to make sure it is here for years to come.

"I am here for the community whenever they need me as I love Paisley and the place, so to allow this to grow and help the local area thrive is a goal of mine.

“The staff here are bursting their backs to make sure that everyone's experience is a good one and that they enjoy coming into the cafe. We will always try and keep the stock full and up to date for everyone's needs.”
